Garden Route Weddings by Marius
Marius’ career in hospitality started in 1993 when his desire to make his mark within the industry led to the completion of a national diploma in Hotel Management at the Witwatersrand Hotel School. In 1998 he was appointed resident manager at South Africa’s very first small luxury hotel, subsequently becoming Operations Manager at a leading hotel in Mozambique not long thereafter. Having grown up in a small town in the then Northern Transvaal (now Mpumalanga) Marius says ’For as long as I can remember I had dreamt of living in the Western Cape, home of beautiful beaches and ancient forests’. He was delighted when in 2001 he had the chance to join a local hotel group in his favourite part of that province - the Garden Route. He was soon promoted to General Manager and in 2004 he was given the opportunity to head up yet another five-star luxury establishment within the group. ’I could live my passion and was responsible for organising an endless number of weddings and corporate functions to the standard you would expect from a five-star hotel group.’ ’Out of this grew the conviction that I had gained sufficient experience to go at it alone, Garden Route Weddings is the result.’ Marius’ approach to overseeing all aspects of your wedding is professional, yet warm and personal, ’I offer a variety, creativity and an eye for detail, ensuring that planning your wedding with you culminates in an enjoyable and memorable wedding celebration.’ Whatever your circumstances your special day can be everything and anything you ever dreamed it could be. While his market is primarily the Garden Route his clients are often from abroad. He describes the process as follows ’An initial consultation and the ensuing correspondence between us allow me to interpret your individual needs and preferences. Recommendations are then made followed by a proposal suggesting ideas and budgets, as well as a costing. On acceptance I work closely with you to plan and co-ordinate your special day while my ongoing liaison with your venue of choice guarantees your peace of mind.’ Amongst Marius’ satisfied customers you’ll find the editor of Pasella, Mandie Barnard who married Joe Dreyer, voted Fair Lady Bride / Sarie Bruid Photographer of the Year in 2006, and Simone Dallamore and Richard Hirsch whose wedding featured on Top Billing in February last year. Another feather in Marius’ professional cap is having been commissioned by Edith Venter two years running to co-ordinate the Avis celebrity luncheon, the build-up to the annual Polo International, traditionally held at Kurland outside Plettenberg Bay.
